We are the broken… battered…healed, and being healed…delivered…redeemed of God.  May we ever recognize our utter dependence upon God for every breath, every provision, every blessing and every protection.

What has been apparent and actually was sensed from the beginning was that–and is that–for this ministry, God would connect certain ones with particular gifts for certain seasons–some for long periods of time, some for shorter.   That is….Spring of Gihon is not a “constant group” or even a “worship team”, but rather a collection of ones, selected by Him through confirmations for a coming together of various “gift and skill packages” to accomplish a portion of His Kingdom work.

Most everyone ever associated with the ministry has additional ministries and callings….and that is actually so the way the Kingdom of God is intended to operate.  He alone places the members of the Body as He desires:    When we–the Body of Messiah–serve in the capacities and seasons  He ordains…surrendering to His purposes and timing ….it is a beautiful thing to behold!

Loving the Lord’s ways of ever expanding our networks with each other in the family of God, building relationships and friendships as we journey this path and together labor for the expansion of His Kingdom.

Faith Levine (Founder)

My story begins with the fact that my mother (birthmother)  named me “Faith”, with the hope, prayer and firm belief that one day, we would be re-united—if only in the life to come.  God had a plan that would include that tremendous blessing and that is also part of my story.  Our God is wonderful beyond what any of us can fathom, I increasingly believe.  I was placed for adoption as an infant-due to circumstances later regretted by both my birth-parents, but God saw that pain and had a plan to restore us all!   This included being introduced and reunited with not only both my parents but my four full siblings and a host of other relatives.  It was a blessing beyond compare and continues to this day.   The many years of separation included my being adopted at 5 months of age into a family truly hand-picked by God, and I see that increasingly the longer I live.  My adoptive sister led me to the Lord and I was taken to the point of true Salvation in the late fall of 1993—made a new creation and in a moment, old things passed away.  It is quite a story–really as all  testimonies of God’s radical interventions into a life are and should ever continually be.   Story, upon story, upon story.

I was teaching Sociology at two institutions in the Kansas City area–about 2 years into that “career” and radically saved mid-semester.  Rather than removing me from the classroom, as I imagined He would have to in that I no longer “believed” what I was teaching, He immediately began to instruct me–often in the moment–on how to present the material His way.  This eventually led to many opportunities to learn and teach various means of evaluating theories, “facts” and doctrines increasingly embedded within textbooks and presented as not-to-be challenged “givens”.   The classroom “ministry” extended over a 20 year period and eventually incorporated the presentation of competing worldviews as a means of understanding societal shifts over time.

Music had additionally, always been some part of my life.   That too is a tale of many sub-stories involving His rescue from my immature pre-salvation intent to head down a very wrong path concerning that.   Music, for me, was essentially “laid down” for a quite a long time and then, to my surprise, less than a year following my salvation, He prompted me to “sing a song”  (a particular one) at the little Assembly of God church I initially attended.   That as well, involves many stories within stories and turning points that rested within that day.  Eventually He led me into the Messianic stream, and a couple of years later prompted me to serve as part of a worship team and ultimately in the leading of worship in various venues–primarily within the context of local Messianic congregations.    It was shortly after this time that He began to inspire the writing of various “songs”–often, but not always, arising out of circumstances/struggles/victories pertinent to my own spiritual journey of faith.

In addition to the ongoing work of Spring of Gihon Ministries, other primary forms of ministry have involved:  women’s discipleship and various teaching opportunities and services geared toward the care and advocacy of young children.

Special Thanks to: Jonathan Rice (Musician and Musical Arrangment Assistant)

It’s appropriate to place a tribute here to Jonathan Rice.   Jonathan has tirelessly lent his gifts of excellent musicianship and arrangement toward the production of  Through This Veil, Vol 1.   He is featured lead guitarist on several tracks and both lead and rhythm on others.  He is a dear friend and brother in the Lord with a servant’s heart above and beyond.  During the course of our work on the Vol 1 EP, Jon was encouraged by the Lord to rekindle his gifts for instrumentation and song writing.  Both works–this EP and his–were completed within the same month as it all turned out!.  I will ever be grateful for the brother that Jonathan has proven to be.

Matt Russo

Matt’s photo and bio will be coming soon.  Matt shared studio space where some of the original songs were recorded.  With the exception of “Return, Revive, Restore“, These songs have not yet been released, but Matt was stationed near when often more time was spent praying than actually recording.  The Lord used Matt more than once through divine appointments that brought encouragement, advice and direction.   Nearing the end of the recording of Through This Veil, Vol 1, Matt suffered a sudden and unexpected illness that affected his ability to hear.  This tested all our faith, but the Lord was stronger than our weaknesses.  Matt’s testimony of God’s guidance and healing through this trial bears witness to His faithfulness, producing the fruit of increased trust and encouragement to others.

Logan Murphy

Logan is a true treasure   He is the  primary sound engineer and co-producer for Through This Veil, Vol 2 and was co-engineer for Vol 1. The longer I work with Logan, the more I am impressed by the person he is and is becoming.  There is a peace and joy unable to be fully captured by words  that occurs when the Spirit of God is present and leads a recording session into an outcome not fully anticipated prior.   It simply occurs in the yielding.  This has been the experience working with Logan.   We open in prayer and the Lord answers by inspiring the ultimate direction the song will land  and it is consistently beyond what was originally imagined.  During all the many, many (typically 1 to 2 hr sessions) progress forward was made each and every time.

In addition to his exceptional talents in musicianship, engineering and production, Logan has been gifted with a gentle and quite spirit and wisdom beyond his years.

Sam and Ana Beckett

The ways of our God are filled with wonder, plans we are not given perfect sight to initially see and therefore, unexpected surprises along the way.  The Lord has ways of intersecting lives and gifts for His purposes.  I have been blessed  (among many, many!) to have had these types of intersections in my own spiritual journey and life course with that of Sam and Ana Beckett.

When I initially prayed about what church to attend following my rescue and Salvation, I was eventually led to a little Assembly of God Church in my neighborhood.  Sam and Ana led the worship and I learned much simply being present, following their lead and stepping into what is meant by “worshiping in Spirit and in Truth”.   Sam’s father and grandfather were the pastors of this little church and it was a true joy to be present there for a season and to begin to establish relationship with other members of the Body.   Sam and Ana were also the ones who volunteered their time and talents to record for me, a little song I had been given upon finding my birth family.  That act of kindness and service greatly helped pave the way for the tender and trepidatious  beginning of relationship with my long lost loved ones.  Ana also co-led worship with me for a season of ministry to post-abortive women and men.

When it came time to pray over who would play piano for some of the songs for Vol 1, “Through This Veil”, Ana began to come to mind–though our journeys had diverged for a time.   I give great thanks as that was surely the Lord!!  We worked together over the Spring and Summer of 2019 and beyond, when she was given vision for having Sam play a flugelhorn on “There is None Righteous”.    I wasn’t sure exactly what  a flugelhorn was, but as she described it,  I was in full agreement.   She wrote the parts and then added a beautiful vocal harmony which we recorded during the Summer of 2020.  Ana also provides the lower female harmony in the last track of “Through This Veil, Vol 2–Down in the Valley (to pray).

Ben Grove

It was Ana Beckett (my dear friend and Leader of Worship (with husband Sam)  at the first church I attended following Salvation) who recommended Ben to play keys on some of the songs to be recorded for “Through This Veil, Vol 1.”  Ben is a joy to work with and co-create with, which is exactly what happened.  He is beautifully talented and brought sounds that always enhanced the work.  He has a gentle spirit which is so necessary in the calling of co-creating.
